Ephesians 6:10-20 KJV
10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.
11 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
14 Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;
15 And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;
16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.
17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:
18 Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;
19 And for me, that utterance may be given unto me, that I may open my mouth boldly, to make known the mystery of the gospel,
20 For which I am an ambassador in bonds: that therein I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak.
Helmet of Salvation
The enemy can try to test our faith and make us question our salvation but with the helmet of salvation on, we know that we are saved by grace through faith (Ephesians 2:8-9).
Romans 10:9-10 KJV
9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
Keep the helmet of Salvation on. Give God your life your whole heart and you will stand still and see the salvation of the Lord (Exodus 14:13-14).
The Breastplate of Righteousness - We are made righteous through Jesus Christ.
2 Corinthians 5:21 KJV
For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.
Matthew 6:33 KJV
33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
Righteousness is a gift that God has given us through the Lord Jesus Christ. The armour of God is given to us by what Jesus did on the cross. He died for our sins and rose again. We have everlasting life when we believe on Him. Salvation, righteousness, truth, faith, the word, the gospel, are all given to us by God. We serve a great God who tells us how to be strong in Him. He’s given us a measure of faith (Romans 12:3).
Shield of Faith - The enemy will try to make you doubt and question what God has promised you, but we must remember to hold up the shield of faith to withstand the attack of the enemy.
We must remember to keep the full armor of God on and never take it off. Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God (Romans 10:17). The full armour of God works together. Have faith in the Word! Hold up your shield of faith and use your sword (the word) to take authority over the enemy and cast down imaginations and thoughts that are against the knowledge of God (2 Corinthians 10:5).
Sword of the Spirit – Know the word, it’s sharper than any two edge sword (Hebrews 4:12). Jesus told the devil it is written when Satan tried to twist scripture to tempt Him. We must know the word so we are not ignorant of Satan's devices. Speak the word. In Revelation 19:15 we see a sword is in the mouth of God. Why is it in the mouth? Because there is power in the word of God. Decree and declare victory in Christ Jesus. Life and death are in the power of your own tongue (Proverbs 18:21), speak and believe the word.
Belt of Truth - Speak the truth. Keep the belt of truth on so you will not be deceived by the enemy. Knowing the word means you know the truth. Jesus is the way the truth and the life no one comes to the father except by Him (John 14:6). Keep Jesus with you, stay rooted in the truth of the word of God and you will stand firm against the enemy.
Shoes of Peace- We must have a readiness to share the gospel as the Lord leads us to souls that need to know Him. In Mark 16:15-16, The Lord tell us to preach the gospel to every creature.
Our steps are ordered by God (Proverbs 16:9). We walk in the peace of God sharing the gospel as God directs us. Why the shoes of peace? Because we go where God sends us to share the gospel. Paul also traveled on foot to share the gospel, we have to get up and go where God sends us. Our steps are ordered by God and we walk in the peace of God. The chastisement of our peace was upon him (Isaiah 53:5). We now have peace because Jesus paid the price and set us free from our sins. Peace, I give you not as this world gives you (John 14:27).
Watch and Pray - God also tells us to watch and pray. After we put on the armour of God, we watch and stay in a posture of prayer. Pray without ceasing (1 Thessalonians 5:17). Continue to seek God and pray for strength along with presenting your requests to God (Philippians 4:6) and He will help us to keep on the armor and fight with victory.
As we keep on the full armor of God, we should know what armor the enemy is trying to attack and recognize that our armor given to us by God is greater than any scheme or attack from the enemy. Pray and believe God. Have confidence in the armor God has given you, you are equipped by God (Hebrews 13:21, 2 Timothy 3:16-17) and His word always stands, it cannot return back void (Isaiah 55:11).
